Protected Area Permit (PAP)

Any foreigner interested in applying for any courses in the Tibetan Settlement area where our monastery is located, must have a PAP duly sanctioned by the Central Government of India.

All foreign students must have a valid PAP to study at Snowland

Tourists wanting to visit Gyudmed Tantric Monastery for the day

Do not need a “PAP”, but if you intend to spend the night a PAP is required.

Applying for a PAP

Your PAP application has to be sent by us, with a supporting letter, to the New Delhi-based Bureau of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for submission through the Government of India.

Documentation needed for a PAP

Three (3) Completed and signed PAP applications (No photo-copies)

Two (2) Photo-copies of your passport

Two (2) Passport size colour photos with white background

( Visa information is not needed for obtaining a PAP )

PAP permits are free but can take 3-6 months to obtain

Emailing your PAP application is not possible, as we need personally signed documents.

As soon as you’re PAP arrives, Approved PAP permits will be emailed back to you or your school, directly. This will allow you plenty of time to arrange your travel plans.
